“Chiguru” by Youth for Seva is an inter-school sporting, cultural and literary fest to showcase talents of under-privileged children in Bengaluru. Children from various government schools and learning centres take part in this event every year.

Volunteers needed

  • Volunteers are required to accompany children to and fro from their schools to the venue and back – Vijaya Main college (Transportation will be arranged)
  • Volunteers are required to assist children at the venue for participating in competitions, ensuring they stay with the crowd and have lunch. 
  • Lunch, breakfast will be arranged for all Volunteers

Volunteer for Art Festival organised by Nalandaway

Nalandaway is organizing an art-centric celebration from January 5 to February 23, 2018 for Children of the Perambur Girls School. The different expressions and forms of Art will be enjoyed with their Parents & the Community.

The month-long celebration that involves various workshops and art engagement activities will culminate on Feb 23, 2018 with an Art Exhibition and a Stage Performance by the students. The Art exhibition will take place in the morning of the Finale, celebrating the Art, Craft and Lifestyle that is native to Tamil Nadu. Students, with their learnings from the Paper Mache workshop to happen on the 18th and 19th of January, will make models and display them to resemble a typical Tamil Village.

 

Though the Exhibition process is supported with a Paper Mache workshop conducted by Prof. A. Z. Ranjit, we need volunteers with a background in arts, who can be part of the workshop and help the Children in putting the exhibition together. We are looking for people who can learn from the workshop and guide the children in making their models.

 

The Volunteers for this activity will be required to

  1. visit the school twice a week from 14:00 – 16:00 and guide the children in making their models support on February 21 and 22, 2018
  2. in setting up the exhibition scheduled on February 23, under the guidance of Prof. A. Z. Ranjit

Volunteer at The Purple Run, Sep 24 | Chennai

The vision of the Purple Run is to spread awareness on mental health. A portion of the proceeds raised at The Purple Run will be donated to NIMHANS – National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Science
 
Alzheimer’s is the 5th leading cause of death in people over 55 years old, and in India, more than 4 million people suffer from some form of dementia. Despite this, there’s a stigma attached to mental illness amongst us. The Purple Run, is an initiative by FORUM to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and mental illness among the young for the elderly.
 
Expecting over 1,500 runners to participate. We need volunteers for assistance in managing the event.

Volunteers needed for Pinkathon – 2016. The proceeds from the run will be distributed to United Sisters Foundation and the TATA Memorial Centre, Mumbai

Assembly point: War Memorial Side of Island ground, Anna Salai Rd.

Volunteers can choose to be at the venue from either

  • 9:30 PM onwards on Saturday, June 4, 2016
  • or at 2:30 AM on Sunday, June 5, 2016

Volunteers can also join for Bib distribution on Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4

All the volunteers will be provided with Refreshments.

Treasure Hunt – Events | V-Excel | Chennai

‘Give Me A Sign’ is a city wide treasure hunt organized by V-Excel. The treasure hunt is going to be held on 27th September 2015, Sunday. The treasure hunt would begin at Besant Nagar Beach, Chennai and each team would be given clues, which would lead them to their next location.  Each team would be made to perform high energy, crazy tasks at different locations before their next clue is handed over.

V-Excel Educational trust is a NGO committed to the education and rehabilitation of individuals with mental and developmental challenges. Their goal is to empower children and young adults with special needs and disabilities to become dignified independent and contributing members of the main stream society. They have been working on and making significant changes in the lives of individuals we serve.

VExcel Treasure Hunt

The treasure hunt is being conducted with an aim to

  1. Creating and spreading public awareness about V-Excel educational trust.
  2. Educate people about the learning methods used by differently abled children.
  3. Facilitating inclusion of differently abled in the mainstream society.
  4. Help raise funds for the trust to improve the quality of education of the students.

V-Excel requires 30 volunteers to conduct the event
