Looking for Writer-Editor Volunteers |
Five to ten people are needed to fill this position for this 1st international film festival dedicated to addressing Human Rights, Children's Advocacy, Environmental Preservation and Animal Rights. This agency’s mission is to strengthen the voice of international activist artists – “Artivists” – while raising public awareness and funds for social global causes. The organization is seeking experienced, resourceful, and creative Writer-Editors on a part-time basis. You do not have to be local. We are seeking to collaborate with a close knit team of writers on interviewing filmmakers, artists, celebrities, community leaders, and preparing all of the content for the upcoming ARTIVIST.com. Interested volunteers’ responsibilities will be as follows:
1. Preparing content, (research, creative brainstorming, editing)
2. Writing articles and conducting interviewing.
Potential volunteers must have the following qualifications:
1. Experience in producing and preparing content for magazines, web portals, or E-zines.
2. Excellent communication and writing skills.
3. Experience in writing quality articles and delivering a project on-time.
4. Good at research and creative problem solving.
5. We are looking for individuals that are independent thinkers, creative, diplomatic, flexible, open to new ideas, work well independently and on a team, and play nice with others.
6. Have a positive attitude and enjoy an exciting, rewarding opportunity!
The ideal candidates will also be able to contribute approximately 10 hours a week and meet or conference call with the President and Editorial Department weekly. Initially this is a volunteer or intern position with the possibility of leading to employment after the launch of the Artivist Network, scheduled for the Summer of 2008. You receive TITLE & CREDIT. Are you looking for a wonderful and rewarding volunteer opportunity? This national nonprofit organization is looking for volunteers and coaches to assist with their program. This is a national, nonprofit volunteer-led organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities at no cost to their families and caregivers. The organization’s mission is to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals. Their programs are open, unstructured and flexible. With the help of volunteer coaches, the athletes can participate in a variety of non-competitive activities, including soccer, basketball, swimming, bowling, gymnastics and various other adaptive activities. Volunteers are needed two Sundays a month usually between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. Volunteers / coaches must be at least 15 years of age, and do not necessarily need prior experience working with people with disabilities. Coaches don't need to be athletic, either. Office Support and Health Fair Volunteers Needed |
Join the nation’s oldest voluntary health agency fighting for your right to breathe clean and healthy air. Statewide, air pollution is responsible for over 2,900 premature deaths each year. Join as an intern or volunteer. Through education, community service, advocacy, and research we help those who suffer from lung disease and promote lung health for everyone. Positions available: office support and health fair coordinator. *Office Support will assist with a variety of important behind-the-scenes support: answer phones and take messages for staff, respond to requests from the public for educational materials and referrals, assist with mailing, internet research, etc., maintain literature room, promote volunteerism and assist with volunteer recruitment, and more. Office support volunteers may volunteer anytime between 9 am and 5 pm, week days, for at least 4 hours. *Health Fair Coordinator will assist in community outreach: set up and distribute materials related to our mission, programs, services and events by representing the ALAC at health/environmental fairs, staff information booth, distribute brochures and respond to inquiries about ALAC’s programs and events, educate the community on promoting good air quality and lung health. Orientation and training specific to the role will be provided. Volunteers for this position are needed mainly on weekends and some week days for 3 to 4 hours. Body Worlds 3 Special Exhibits |
A Los Angeles-based Science Center is pleased to present BODY WORLDS 3
& The story of the Heart. This special exhibit features over 200 authentic human specimens including whole body plastinates not seen before, organs, translucent body slices, and for the first time-a special presentation of the heart. This exhibit will be open from March 14, 2008 through September 7, 2008. Volunteer to make this exhibit is a blast! Volunteers must have excellent customer service skills, an outgoing personality, be in a good health and at least 16 years old. Volunteers must commit to volunteering for a minimal of 3 months. Ideally, volunteers would be able to commit to working one 4-hour shifts per week. Volunteer shifts are available in the morning, afternoon and evening, Monday through Sunday. Shifts will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. Orientation and training is provided. 50 volunteers are needed each day while this exhibit is running.
